FIT Women: No. 19 Florida Tech Soars Past Wheeling Jesuit at Home 22-0

(Women’s Lacrosse) – No. 19 Florida Tech (3-1) rolled to its third straight victory in the early part of its season, this time earning a dominating 22-0 victory over the visiting Cardinals of Wheeling Jesuit (1-2) on Wednesday at Florida Tech Panther Stadium. Sara Grenier led FIT with four goals. Sam Schiano and Allie Modica added four points apiece. Schiano recording three goals and one assist and Modica on two goals and two assists. Five other Panthers tallied two goals each. Schiano also finished with six ground balls and two caused turnovers, both game-highs. Modica paced all players with four draw controls. Stephanie Stuart (3-1) earned the win, while Chloe Zador came off the bench to make three saves in goal. FIT finished with more shots, 32-6, ground balls, 22-10, and draw controls, 16-8, in the victory. It did not take long for FIT to get on the board as Mary Gormley scored on a free position attempt just 56 seconds into the game. Grenier tallied three of the next four goals, the other coming from Lauren Tybor, to increase the Panthers’ lead to 5-0 with 20:00 remaining in the first half. FIT reached a 10-0 advantage on Alexis Townsend‘s free position goal to force running time with still 12:51 left in the half. The Panthers added three more goals before halftime to push the lead to 13-0 at the break. The Crimson and Gray emptied the bench in the second half and cruised to the victory, all the while reaching a new season-high for goals scored in the win. The Panthers will look to keep the momentum going as they host St. Anselm in their next game on Saturday, Mar. 4, at 2:30 p.m. ET at Panther Stadium.
