FIT Women: Panthers Cruise to 18-4 Win Over Knights

via press release   Florida Tech shuts out Neumann in second half en route to 18-4 victory Sunday morning MELBOURNE, Fla. (Women’s Lacrosse) – In the first game of a Florida Tech lacrosse doubleheader, the Panthers jumped all over NCAA Division III Neumann in the second half en route to a 18-4 victory Sunday morning at Florida Tech Panther Stadium. Six different Panthers scored in the contest. Sara Grenier paced FIT with seven points on five goals and two assists. Allie Modica and Leah Dunn each tallied four goals and Caroline Dunleavy notched a hat trick to go along with two assists. Jordan Grant finished with one goal and an assist and Mary Gormley dished out a game-high three assists. Two goals each by Dunn and Grenier put Florida Tech ahead 4-2 with 14:04 left in the opening half. After a Kaitlyn Conrad goal made it a one-point game, FIT tallied three straight by Sam Schiano, Grenier and Modica to extend the lead to 7-3 at the five minute mark. Modica added one more with less than two minutes left in the half to make it an 8-4 game at the break. Florida Tech held the Knights scoreless the final 33:05 of the contest while adding 10 more goals in the second half to make it a 14-goal differential at the final whistle. The Panthers outshot NU 43-9 yet finished with a narrow edge in ground balls (29-26) and draw controls (12-11). In goal for FIT, Stephanie Stuart and Julia Kantor each played a half and recorded two saves apiece. Florida Tech is back at it on Tuesday, March 1 as the Panthers host Chestnut Hill at 7 p.m. ET at Florida Tech Panther Stadium.
