FIT Women: Panthers Set for Wednesday’s Matchup with American International

(Women’s Lacrosse) – Florida Tech’s offense has steamrolled opposing defenses through the first three games of the season, scoring 15 goals a night and winning by an average margin of 5.6 goals per game. On Wednesday, the Panthers (3-0) will try to continue their torrid pace when they host American International (2-1) at 7 p.m. ET at Florida Tech Panther Stadium. Florida Tech was in a tightly contested battle with Indiana (Pa.) on Saturday and needed a 7-1 run during a 19-minute span in the second half to break the game open and defeat the Crimson Hawks 15-11. Sara Grenier finished with a game-high six points on three goals and three assists, while Allie Modica recorded a hat trick in the victory. Mary Gormley and Sarah Kapinos each notched three points against IUP and Caroline Dunleavey and Jordan Grantscored two goals apiece. Stephanie Stuart improved to 3-0 in goal for the Panthers, recording eight saves and limiting the Crimson Hawks to just 1-of-6 on their free possession attempts. American International is coming off a 13-11 loss at the hands of Molloy on Friday, March 4. Stefanie Dufresne paced the Yellow Jackets with six points on four goals and a pair of assists and five draw controls. Riley Brennan added three points on two goals and an assist. Brennan is AIC’s top points-getter with 16 on a team-high 13 goals and three assists. Dufresne has 13 total points on seven goals and six assists, while Whitney McKay and Jessica Laler have contributed 11 points each. Cheyenne Carden and Dufresne lead the Yellow Jackets with 16 and 15 draw controls, respectively. Alexis Torosian has a 2-1 record in between the pipes this season, allowing 29 goals and recording a save percentage of .463.
