via press release   Grenier, Schiano take home conference player of the week honors after leading FIT to season-opening win MELBOURNE, Fla. (Women’s Lacrosse) – After guiding Florida Tech to a season-opening victory over Roberts Wesleyan on Wednesday, women’s lacrosse’s Sara Grenier and Sam Schiano were named the Sunshine State Conference’s Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for Feb. 15-21.   FIT Sam Schiano 2016 FIT Sarah Grenier 2016                   Grenier, the Panthers’ leading goal scorer a year ago, picked up right where she left off in notching a team-high six points in the 16-11 win against the Redhawks. The sophomore scored a game-high five goals, including one free possession tally, to go along with one assist in the victory. Schiano had a breakout performance in her debut for the Crimson and Gray. The freshman finished with seven draw controls and five ground balls, both game-highs, to go along with three caused turnovers versus RWC. She also recorded her first career point in the contest, dishing out an assist on the Panthers’ second goal of the game. Florida Tech returns to Florida Tech Panther Stadium for an exhibition with NCAA Division III Neumann on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. ET.
