Flemming Island Runs Away From Mandarin 17-3

Eleven different players scored on Tuesday night as Fleming Island High School beat the Mandarin Mustangs 17-3. Jack Hirabyshi lead all scorers with four goals, while Hayden La Vangie added three goals and two assists to pace the attack. Devan Marquis added two goals for the visitng Golden Eagles, and Will Yarborough, Sam Barrington, Justin Melville, Kevin Beach, Chase Wolfe, Beau Yarborough, Andrew Wehner, and Josh Gracia each added one goal to round out the scoring.
The defense turned in another solid performance as it was lead by Cody Worthy and the stout close defense of Conner Hughes, Grayson Gunn, Jake Funyak, and Vincent Buzzy. LSM’s Jarren Sazafranski, Tommy Burt, and Shane Waters were outstanding on the face-offs, and defensive middies Jake Williams and Connor Bonham kept the Mustang middies in check for most of the night.
Fleming Island moves to 6-1 on the season and will host Bartram Trail (7-1) on Thursday night. This was Mandarin’s second loss in a row but they bounced back on Wednesday with an 11-7 victory over Sandalwood. They are now 6-2.
