Fletcher wins against Bishop Snyder last night. The game started an hour late, 7pm, due to traffic problems on the way from the beach. The Senators started with a score in the first 2 minutes of the game by Freshman #10 Jimmy Burns. The Cardinals answered right away with a score straight from the 2nd face off by #9 Connor Scott.
The pressure was on the Cardinal goalie for most of the game, as Fletcher kept possession on the ball. The Cardinals had a strong defense, plenty of heavy hitting on the field, but they could not stop the Senators pursuit of shots on goal. A few penalties were called and the refs were sharp, but not many man downs happened.
With Fletcher up by 6, the Cardinals threw a half field shot at goal, but missed.
The top scoring players for Fletcher were #8 Zach Thornton and #22 Graham Van, both with 3 goals, but #5 Charlie Hurst was credited with 5 assists. A few players received their first goals of their high school career: Remy Cronin, Zach Fracker, Kelly Bickers. Defending Senators were effective at almost shutting down the Cardinal offense. Zach Thornton and Graham Van combined for 4G/4A for Fletcher.
Great game, jubilant atmosphere for the visiting team. Fletcher looks forward to this Friday nights game at Lee High School at 7pm.
