LAKELAND – Moccasin men’s lacrosse coach Marty Ward has announced that his program will hold its second annual alumni game on Saturday, Oct. 31 on the team’s practice field at Lakeside Baptist Church. The second annual Moccasin Lacrosse alumni game is scheduled for 11 a.m. and will pit current Moccasin players against former Florida Southern men’s lacrosse players. Along with the Mocs facing a team of alumni on Oct. 31, the Mocs will also play the University of Central Florida in a fall scrimmage game at 1 p.m., while the Moccasin alumni will face UCF in a scrimmage game at 3 p.m. All of the games will be held at Lakeside Baptist Church. For more information on the second annual Moccasin men’s lacrosse alumni game, please contact Moccasin assistant coach Rob Williams at rwilliams@flsouthern.edu. Last year’s inaugural alumni game brought nearly two dozen former players to campus to face the 2015 Moccasins and Ward is hoping more alumni are able to make it back this year. “Last year’s inaugural alumni game was a tremendous success as nearly two dozen former Mocs returned to campus and I’m hopeful that more alumni might be able to return for this year’s game,” said Ward, who is entering his sixth season at the helm of the Mocs in 2016. Last season, the Mocs finished with a 6-8 record and tied for third in the Sunshine State Conference with a 2-3 mark. Despite its 6-8 record, the Mocs did have eight players earn All-SSC honors, including Dane Sorensen becoming the first Moccasin men’s lacrosse player to earn SSC Player of the Year honors. In addition, Sorensen was also named a Third-Team USILA All-American in 2015 after scoring a team high 48 goals and averaging a Division II best 3.43 goals per game.
