MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Southern sophomore midfielder Andrew Fisher earned his second consecutive Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week award, announced by the conference office on Monday.
FSC’s faceoff phenom continued his record-breaking season this past weekend. On Sunday, March 22 against Adams State, Fisher broke the school record for faceoff wins, which he set earlier this season against Rollins, with 26, the second-most by any Division II player in a game this season.
The Monkton, Md., native also scooped a career-high 12 ground balls as the Mocs defeated the Grizzlies, 21-15.
In an 11-10 loss to Lynn University on Saturday, March 21, Fisher went 18-for-25 from the X and his six ground balls equaled the game-high.
On the season, Fisher leads Division II with 170 faceoff victories, which ranks as the fifth-most in FSC history, and is on pace to break the school’s single-season record. He is also 12th in the country in ground balls per game with 6.30.
The Moccasin men’s lacrosse team will travel to Charlotte, N.C. to conclude the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 1 p.m. matchup against Queens (N.C.) (5-5) on Saturday, March 28.
