Florida Southern’s Hoover Named SSC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week

  While the honor is Hoover’s first of the season, it marks the seventh straight week a Moccasin has won at least one of the weekly honors. The Mocs have swept the offensive and defensive awards on three occasions. Hoover led the Mocs with five goals and nine points over their two games last week. She scored a game-high three goals and four points in the weather-shortened 11-3 win over Saint Leo on April 7. In the 20-1 Senior Day victory over Shorter on Saturday, she scored twice and added three assists. In the two games, she combined for seven draw controls, six ground balls and caused four turnovers. Originally from Annapolis, Md., Hoover is currently third on the team and tied for seventh in the nation with 70 points. She leads the Mocs with 51 ground balls and 38 caused turnovers on the season, and is second with 59 draw controls. Florida Southern (16-2, 2-0 SSC) will finish its regular season on the road against a pair of conference opponents. On Wednesday, April 15 at 7:30 p.m., the Mocs trek to Tampa to take on the Spartans (5-10, 0-3 SSC). On Saturday, April 18, the Mocs visit Florida Tech (7-6, 1-1 SSC) for a 1 p.m. matchup.
