Former PC Star Sam Talkow Added to the Tewaaraton Watch List!

via press release – photo from Lax Magazine   First Terrier to be added to list; Talkow ranks fourth in NCAA in faceoff percentage March 17, 2016 WASHINGTON – Junior Sam Talkow of the No. 16 Boston University men’s lacrosse team was added to the Tewaaraton Watch List, as announced on Thursday. Talkow is the first Terrier in program history to be added to the Watch List for the Tewaaraton Award, which annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are comprised of premier college coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation. “These players have the attention of the top coaches and are added to the mix of those that will be considered for the game’s top award,” said Jeff Harvey, chairman of the Tewaaraton Foundation. “This is fine recognition for their exceptional play to start the 2016 season.”   Talkow 2016   Talkow has been a big reason why the Terriers are off to a 6-1 start, the best in program history. He has won 69.7 percent of the faceoffs he has taken this season, which ranks fourth in the nation. Talkow is also seventh in the country with an average of 7.43 ground balls per game, and his 52 ground balls is second-most in the country. A native of Delray Beach, Florida, Talkow is also the only player among the top 20 faceoff specialists in the country with five goals. He also has one assist this season for six points. Five men’s and five women’s finalists will be announced on May 12. A second round of watch list additions, if applicable, will be announced on April 7. On April 28, the field will be narrowed to 25 men’s and 25 women’s nominees. The 16th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony will be held in Washington, D.C., on June 2. BU will be back in action on Saturday at Bucknell. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
