It appeared Limestone junior Carleigh Davis had scored the game-winner as time expired in the third overtime period. The Saints stormed the field in celebratory fashion, but lost in the dog pile was Davis’ stick. The officials wiped out the goal because her crosse wasn’t properly presented for a post-goal stick check. The chaos subsided and the game resumed. The two teams played through another scoreless three-minute segment to begin the fourth overtime, which was highlighted by a game-saving save by redshirt freshman goalkeeper Ashley Seborowski (Annapolis, Md.) with approximately 10 seconds to go. After 82 minutes and 46 seconds of intense action, senior attack Caitlin Chase (Mt. Laurel, N.J.), FSC’s all-time leading scorer, netted the game-winner. Saturday’s game marked the first-ever win over Limestone as the Moccasins (14-2, 1-0 SSC) lost both previous matchups by one goal, including a 9-8 overtime loss on May 4, 2013. Last season, the Saints (11-2) won 14-13 in Lakeland. Limestone was handed its first overtime loss since 2001 while its 19-game home win streak came to an end. The game also marks the longest in team history. The Moccasins (14-2, 1-0 SSC) had played only two overtime games and neither made it past the first overtime. FSC is now 2-1 in overtime games with the lone loss coming against the Saints in 2013. With the game being as tightly contested as expected, neither team led by more than two goals throughout. Down 2-1, FSC put together a three-goal run to surge ahead. Senior Megan Asper (Parkton, Md.) assisted freshman Shannon Gilfedder (Longwood, Fla.) to knot the game at 2-all. Sophomore Kendall Kerge (Edgewater, Md.) and Asper added goals to take a 4-2 lead. The Saints responded with two of their own from senior Sam McCarrick and junior Melanie Murphy to tie the game at 4-4. Asper regained the lead at the 10:12 mark in the first half. Freshman Cassidy Remmell (Ocean City, Md.) had a chance to extend the lead to two but was denied on her free position shot by Limestone goalie Sydney Teeter. Less than a minute after Teeter’s save, Limestone senior Keirsten MacLellan drew the game even at 5-5. In the second half, MacLellan sandwiched a pair of scores around senior Lorianne Hoover’s (Annapolis, Md.) first of the game at 17:17 to put the Saints ahead 7-6, but the Gilfedder spotted Hoover and Asper with a pair of assists and the Mocs jumped ahead 8-7. Seborowski denied McCarrick on a free position shot with 5:41 remaining to preserve the one-goal lead. On the ensuing possession, Chase recorded her first point of the game with a timely goal to give the Mocs a two-goal cushion, 9-7, with under three minutes to go in regulation. Murphy and junior Taylor Cline each scored with under two minutes left in the second half tie it at 9-9. Teeter then saved an Asper free position shot with 13 seconds on the clock to force the first extra period. The Limestone keeper did the same to end the first three-minute segment of the first overtime period. Not to be outshone by her counterpart, Seborowski made a pair of big-time saves. Limestone was content on holding the ball and taking the last shot in the sudden-death periods. Seborowski kept the Mocs alive by saving a MacLellan shot with 12 seconds left in second overtime and a Cline shot with 10 seconds left in the first segment of the fourth OT. Asper led the Mocs with four goals and five points, and her 10 ground balls set a program single-game record. Hoover scored two goals with two assists and Gilfedder finished with a goal and two assists. Seborowski named seven saves to improve her record to 12-1 on the season.
