FT Women: FIT Travels to Peach State to Face Young Harris

(Women’s Lacrosse) – Florida Tech (4-5) is set to embark on its second road trip of the season to face the Young Harris College Mountain Lions (8-3) on Saturday, March 28 at 1 p.m. ET in Young Harris, Georgia. The Panthers hope to turn the tides on their current three-game skid, after dropping their previous matchup with Belmont Abbey 15-12 on March 21. The Crusaders kicked off the scoring early with a goal just 18 seconds after the opening draw. Florida Tech answered to bring the game even before Belmont Abbey fired in six of the next 10 goals to go into halftime with a 7-5 lead. In the second half Belmont Abbey scored quickly to increase its lead to 10-5, but FIT responded with five of the next seven to bring its deficit to just two goals. However, the Crusaders fired in two more scores to push the game out of reach and give the Panthers the loss. Freshman Mary Gormley had one of her best performances for the Crimson and Gray, pacing FIT with three goals and a season-high four assists. Fellow freshman Sara Grenier and sophomore Allie Modica each finished with a hat trick, while graduate student Katie Reid added two goals in the loss. Young Harris is coming off its third loss of the season, falling to Newberry 12-11.
