
FT Women: Panthers and Bees Matchup in Game One of Doubleheader

Florida Tech looks to make game a shootout after scoring 39 goals last two games
MELBOURNE, Fla. (Women’s Lacrosse) – Florida Tech (3-2) takes on NAIA opponent, the Savannah College of Art & Design Bees (4-0), at 12 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers and Bees will play in the first game of a women’s lacrosse doubleheader at Palm Bay High School’s Pirate Stadium.
In the second game, No. 6 New Haven and No. 8 LIU-Post will face-off in a rematch from the 2014 NCAA Division II First Round, which LIU-Post won 10-5. Game time for this Top 10 matchup is 3:30 p.m.
The Panthers are firing on all cylinders after outscoring their previous two opponents 39-5. Four Panthers, Allie Modica (10), Sara Grenier (8), Mary Gormley (7) and Caroline Dunleavy (6) have combined for 31 of the team’s 39 goals the last two games. FIT routed Virginia-Wise 20-2 last Saturday, March 7 before defeating Coker College 19-5 on Wednesday.
Modica put the Panthers on the board first just one minute into the game against Coker. The Cobras went on a mini-run to take a 3-2 lead with 15:55 remaining in the first half. Gormley scored 30 seconds later to tie the game at three goals apiece and ignited a 17-2 run for the Panthers en route to the 19-5 victory.
SCAD is coming off a win over Reinhardt University 20-7 on March 1. The Bees were led by Kayla Nelson’s four goals and three assists and Jordan Cook’s three goals and two assists. Taylor Vaccaro recorded a hat trick and added one assist in her team’s win.
