From Press Release On Tuesday, the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) released the honorees for the 2014 IWLCA Division I Academic Honor Roll. Among the 233 student-athletes lauded from across the country were four Florida Gators. Recent graduate Cara Canington and seniors Nora BarryMikki Offit and Shannon Gilroy all received recognition for their success in the classroom. Since the program’s inaugural season in 2010, the Gators consistently achieve success on the field and in the classroom. Earlier this month, the IWLCA recognized Florida as a 2014 Academic Honor Squad for having a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. Additionally, 23 Gators were awarded Academic Honor Roll status by the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in July. “I am very proud of these four young women and what they have achieved while at Florida,” said head coach Amanda O’Leary. “We always stress the importance of academics and balancing school work with athletic commitments. This award shows the diligence the four of them have displayed for maintaining a high GPA throughout their time in school.” To earn the award, a student-athlete must achieve at least junior status academically, and have a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or higher.
