Get Ready for ‘Canes vs Gators on Miami’s Senior Night

Above – Matt Gozzi is one of the 7 Seniors to be honored this weekend You can only find these kinds of story lines going into playoff season.  It’s senior night for the Miami Hurricanes and the outcome of this one has playoff implications for both teams.  The game is scheduled for Saturday April 11, 5pm, University of Miami IM Fields. A win for the Gators clinches a playoff berth for them.  A win for the ‘Canes allows them to control their own destiny going into the game against UCF next week. But a win for Miami would mean much more than that.  They have never beaten the Gators, they are 0-8 all time.  They have also never been to the playoffs. While they have never beaten the Gators it hasn’t been a totally lopsided event either.  In 2013 they played to an 8-7 OT game in Miami.  Last season Miami traveled to Gainesville and lost by a single goal.  Could this be their year?  Miami is 6-4, tying previous mark for most wins/best record (finished 6-4 in 2011) and recently had a five game winning streak snapped by Auburn. Florida, for their part, are coming off of back to back wins in the division including an 8-7 victory over UCF this past weekend. This is the most experienced squad the Hurricanes have ever put together and that should make for a great senior night with 7 players to be celebrated.  They have 6 seniors and one third year law student on a roster that includes four fourth-year seniors, the most since 2011. Miami players to be honored on Senior Night include; Dave Wilde of Houston, TX Bryan Sutherland of Farmingdale, NY Matt Gozzi of Guilford, CT Sean Schnitzer of Vienna, VA Jordan Wendell of Owings Mills, MD Frankie Carey of Briarcliff, NY Daniel Pyser of Owings Mills, MD
