Great Weekend at Wellington Lacrosse Classic

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in .
There was a great sense of community at the Wellington Lacrosse Classic.  Twelve fields stayed busy with lacrosse action all weekend long.  The Wellington Village Park was a fantastic venue and the volunteer parents of the Wellington High School lacrosse program kept things running smoothly. The Fan Favorites won the small but competitive girl’s division.  Fan Favorites features Stetson University commit Christina Wittmeier and Rachelle Serafini (Iona).  Killian’s Nicole Galetti (Mount Olive) was also playing in the tournament for Top Shelf. Fan Favorite player Lauren Morando was at the  University of Louisville this weekend where she made a verbal commitment. In the HS “A” division the Florida Elite squeaked by the host Wellington Warpigs for the championship.  Florida Elite goalie Nick Martin (Delaware) made an incredible 65 yard fast break outlet pass, that lead to the game winner in a close 4-3 game.  Tyler Kuhlman (Florida Southern) played well as did the entire Warpigs team.  Wellington is building a solid lacrosse program starting with the youth Wolfpack Lacrosse program and working up to the high school division.  This year’s senior class at Wellington is the first of the crop to come up through the program and they have been filling the pipeline for several years now.  Wellington is planning on being competitive this season and into the future Palm Beach Storm kept up that club’s winning ways to take the championship in the HS B, U15, and U11”B” divisions.  Doug Shanahan, host of the upcoming Nexstar Recruiting Showcase event, was there with his Empire Elite Laxafarians who won the U13 division.  Danny Loftus’ Blue Devil Elite squad took home the U11 “A” championship. The first year event brought in 41 teams and raised money to fund the up and coming Wellington High School lacrosse program.
