Gulf Breeze and Team Lax Chix’s varsity lacrosse goalie Alanna Zambetti will represent Florida in this month’s Guardian National Championship (GNC), an invitation-only patented combine and training and assessment competition specifically designed for Goaltenders. With over 100 Goalies participating from across the U.S. and the Iroquois Nation, Zambetti is the sole participant from Florida. Last year Lax Maniax Club Goalie Caroline Caputo from Gainesville, Florida placed among the winners in her age group at the Championship.  Caroline noted,  “Participating in the GNC was so different from any camp I had ever done.  It challenged me in new ways, which was so cool”.  She also realized that “it helped me realize the weakest parts of my game.  When I came home, I was really able to focus on what I needed to do to improve”. Caputo has since committed to Villanova. The GNC objectively measures aptitude in the athletic, reactionary and offensive components of goaltending, and draws collegiate coaches from around the country. Again this year, the Guardian National Championship will take place at the Spooky Nook Sports Center in Manheim, Pennsylvania July 27 – 30th.
