Thomas Klosowski, South Florida All American, Gulliver Prep (Miami) ’10 graduate and son of Jim and Sheri has always worked just as hard off the field as when he’s on it. For anybody who has had the opportunity to watch Thomas dominate an opponent or control the mid-field, you can relate. For anybody who hasn’t, I can best describe it like a lion hunting his prey in the African grassland.
All the hard work has finally paid off for Thomas who recently signed with Ohio State University on a full ride. “Once Thomas focuses on a goal, he doesn’t quit until he achieves it, and he likes to dream big,” his father Jim describing Thomas. Thomas’ story is summed up perfectly by his father’s quote because Thomas is one of those players that dedicates more time to off field preparation than anyone else. He spends extra hours in the gym, on the wall and plays/coaches whenever he gets the chance. He has been following his dream to play D1 since high school and playing at a big time school like OSU is the perfect fit.
In high school he was one of those athletes that the rule, “you’re unable to practice today because you were out sick,” didn’t apply to. He flew under the radar for much of his high school career which never concerned him. Once he made the decision he was going to play D1 there was no stopping him from following his dream. After high school he went to play for The Onnendoga Lasers, a JuCo located in Syracuse, NY where he excelled in the classroom and on the field.
The Lazers won the National Championship last year with Thomas receiving All American awards and are defending their title once again this year. Thomas had an outstanding season and is no longer flying under the radar. When asked why he chose OSU Thomas said, “It was a great fit right off the bat. The facilities are unbelievable, the coaching staff is amazing, but the most important thing for me was the amount of support athletics gives to the student-athlete. It was apparent to me that OSU valued the level of education for their athletes more than any other school I visited. So now I get to play lacrosse and get a degree form OSU, Its an honor.”
Thomas, from everyone in Florida, good job and keep up the hard work. You have made everyone proud, especially your parents.
