(Saturday 2/27/16) On a sunny and brisk 65 degree Saturday afternoon at the IMG Academy the district 8 Lake Mary Rams traveled down to Bradenton to take on the IMG Ascenders. Lake Mary was looking to bounce back after a close loss from Lake Highland Prep two days prior as IMG was looking to extend their winning streak to four. After a fast past attack from the IMG offense and a strong and stubborn showing from the IMG defense, the IMG Ascenders defeated the Lake Mary Rams 14-6. The fast paced IMG offense struck first only a couple minutes into the game on a strong lefty dodge from midfielder Cameron Badour. IMG would use Badour’s opening momentum to score the next 9 goals before Lake Mary could answer with their first goal right before the end of the first half. IMG would open the second half just as they opened the game by scoring first as well as the halves first four goals before Lake Mary could answer with three of their own. IMG finished the game strong as their strong defense was able to keep the ball away from the Lake Mary offense and thwarted any typed of late comeback. IMG’s offense recorded eight different goal scorers lead by Cameron Badour, George and Colin Prince and Casey Waller as they all recorded multiple goals. IMG’s defense held Lake Mary to only four goals two of them coming off Lake Mary man up opportunities. The IMG defense was quarterbacked by two strong showings from goalies Adam Getty and Drake Porter as well as strong defensive efforts from Christopher Cote, Maxwell Gilbane, Liam Anderson and Jared Fernandez. Lake Mary drops to 4-2 on the season and will look to bounce back on March 1st as they host the Winter Springs Bears. The 6th ranked IMG Ascenders improve to 6-1 and will return to action on February 29th as they travel to Tampa Jesuit and look to extend their win streak to 5 before playing in state rival Lake Highland Prep on March 1st.
