IMG downs Lake Highland Prep 14-7

  On March 1st the 7-1 IMG Ascenders Boy’s Lacrosse team traveled to the University of Tampa to battle with the 4-3 Lake Highland Prep Highlanders. The Ascenders are coming off a 5 game win streak as well as the Highlanders coming off a win going into the March 1st contest. The game opened up as an offensive struggle for IMG as Lake Highland Preps defense was able to stop the IMG offense as they came up empty handed on four of their first five possessions. Due to strong face off play by IMG they were able to control the pace of the game as well as the time of possession winning all but one face off in the first quarter. The tempo of the game would tradeoff as the IMG offense struggled the Lake Highland Prep offensive thrived and when the Lake Highland Prep offensive struggled the IMG defense shinned. IMG held a 10-5 lead at halftime but the Highlanders wouldn’t go away as they continued to battle the up tempo IMG offense and was able to close the game to 10-7 with nine minutes left in the fourth quarter. Upperclassman Cameron Badour re opened up the game between the Ascenders and the Highlanders with two back to back goals midway through the fourth quarter extending the lead to 12-7. IMG’s bench helped push the Ascenders past the Highlanders as they able to add two more goals as well as keep the ball away from the Highlanders offense. IMG’s offense was lead by attackman George Prince who lead the team in scoring with 4 goals and 3 assists and midfielder Cameron Badour with 4 goals. Jared Fernandez and Chris Cote stood out for IMG’s defense as they secured 8 groundballs between the two. IMG’s win improves their record to 8-1 and extends their win streak to 6 games and they are back in action March 4th at home. The Highlanders drop to 4-4 and are back in action on March 5th.
