Jupiter Defeats Jensen Beach In Home Opener

The first quarter was a defensive battle with the only goal coming with two seconds left, by Jupiter’s Jake Steiger assisted by Lars Coughlin. Jensen Beach opened the second quarter with a goal by Beau Ladwig assisted by Jared Welsh. Jupiter responded with two unassisted goals, first by Sean Denes and the second by Lars Coughlin.
Halftime found the Warrriors up 3-1. In the third, Peter Cox scored off of a feed from Alex Derrico to put Jupiter ahead 4-1. Jensen Beach answered with another goal by Beau Ladwig fed by Jared Welsh, followed by an unassisted goal by Zach Crotty of Jupiter. Jensen closed the quarter with a goal by Jared Welsh from an assist by Cameron Wadsworth.
Ryan Gallaher of Jensen scored to open the fourth. Jupiter’s Zach Crotty scored next with an assist by Peter Cox, followed by Sean Denes’ second goal of the night coming from an assist by Michael Dean. The final score was 7-4 for Jupiter. On the defensive side, Jupiter’s Braylen Sampson had three takeaways and three ground balls, Connor Alexander had one takeaway and three ground balls and goalie Viper Scheele had 13 saves.
For Jensen Beach, Wyatt Weissmann led the team with one takeaway and six ground balls, Jake Ferguson had one takeaway and three ground balls and goalie Austin Brodie had a great night with 19 saves.
Jupiter’s (1-0) next game is February 25 against Pope John Paul II (2-0) and Jensen Beach (1-1) plays February 26 against John Carroll Catholic (0-0).
