Friday night on the field in east Seminole County found Paul J. Hagerty High School 3-6 matched up on their home field against Lake Brantley High School 10 -1. Perfect weather was a respite from earlier games with north winds and frog strangling rain. This game was a rainout rematch from earlier in the season. Hagerty had a good win earlier in the season against Benjamin but has taken losses against Lake Mary, Boone and Lake Highland Prep since. Coach Ayad brought his Huskies like Egyptians across the Nile to face Coach Theiss’ Patriots in a pyramid of lacrosse exposition; run, pass and shoot. The first quarter opened up with Jared Bernhardt, Tim Gehlbach and Ryan Crowley sinking goals in Hagerty’s net. Hagerty’s Kevin Collin answered back with Hagerty’s only goal in the first quarter. Sam Hapgood and their keeper Bronson anchored Hagerty’s defense. In the second quarter Hagerty scored two more goals by Chris Carpenter and Comer Knarsboro but Brantley’s offense ran strong and added many more ending the have at 10 / 3 Brantley. The third quarter had an unprecedented tone when the officials took charge of the game late in the third with a

flurry of flags. The game did not appear to be getting chippy, yet the flags still flew, with some landing squarely on the coaches of both teams. Discussion was had with those more erudite in lacrosse than I and an answer could not be surmised. All play and momentum by either side was stifled and the third crawled to a close through the flags with Brantley in the lead 14 / 5. The fourth quarter closed out with Hagerty scoring two more goals by Kevin and Jacob Collin. Brantley added one more by Bernhardt. The final score was Brantley with the win 15 / 7. Hagerty’s next game will be at home against Sanford Seminole High School on Wednesday the 26th. Lake Brantley will face Oviedo on the same night the 26th on their home Tom Storey field in Altamonte Springs.
