The SAC Boys Lacrosse Championship was held by Lake Brantley for over a decade but Lake Mary reasserted itself as the top team in Seminole County for the second year in a row with a convincing victory over the Patriots. The Rams are now 6-0 in county play with victories over Hagerty, Oviedo, Seminole, and now Lake Brantley locking up the title. The Rams have one game remaining in county play versus Lyman but have clinched the title based on head to head play.
The Patriots challenged in the first quarter with Austin Guerrina and Jared Berhardt putting in scores to keep the game tight at 4-2 with Lake Mary ahead. However, the Rams dominated possession in the 2nd quarter and built a 9-2 advantage at halftime and never looked back. Midfielder Garret Gile led the Rams with 4 goals and an assist followed by Zac Gussman at 3-2, Charlie Ragault with 3-1, Kurt Sisco with 2-2, and Tyler Castillo with 2-1.
The defense was led by Zac Nash who drew the assignment versus Bernhardt and Goalie Chandler Harrison who made several saves while the Rams were three men down for two minutes in the 3rd quarter.
Lake Mary heads south next week to face a tough Boca Raton squad on Wednesday and number one ranked St. Thomas on Friday.
