It’s Week 4 of the “Al Packer Ford Coaches Poll.” As we pass the halfway point for the regular season we are seeing some teams make their move up the poll.
- St. Thomas Aquinas stays in the number one spot in the poll as they defeated Columbus, American Heritage, and Plantation. So far this week they got past Benjamin 14-9 and they face top ten Barron Collier tonight.
- Lake Highland beat Lovett (GA) and Hagerty during the voting week and defeated Winter Park earlier this week. The Highlanders are off until next Wednesday when they take on Bishop Moore.
- Ponte Vedra is 11-1 and heading down to Jupiter tonight. They survived an epic OT game against Charlotte Catholic and then kept Lake Mary at bay. Two solid victories for the Sharks.
– Jupiter prepares to host Pont Vedra tonight. They were upset by St. Andrews last week but that didn’t hurt them in the poll as much as it helped SA.
-St. Andrews is the big mover in the poll this week as they jump up to number five from a tie for tenth. This, obviously, on the strength of the big win at Jupiter. A solid game tomorrow as they host IMG could bolster them in the poll and they have Lake Highland Prep waiting just down the road.
- Lake Mary bounced back from a four goal loss to #3 ranked PV with a win over Lake Brantley. They have a great chance to move up the rankings as they face Boca and then STA next week.
- Barron Collier is now 7-1 with top ranked St. Thomas Aquinas tonight and Jupiter just around the corner. Some great chances to silence any doubters out there.
– Stoneman Douglas has kept the mojo all season with some quality wins, most recently beating Oxbridge on the road. We expect these guys to win out the rest of the regular season and they could be trouble for some opponents in the play offs.
– Vero Beach is 8-1 with their only loss a quadruple OT loss to #10 Boca. They are in a very competitive district and got past Jensen Beach by a single goal last week. District 19 is tough and whoever emerges may be a bit wounded going into the playoffs but right now Vero has their sites set on Pope.
– Boca Raton is at a point where their season could go either way. They put together three quality wins during the voting period beating West Boca, Gulf Coast, and Jensen Beach. However, they lost to Saint Andrews last night and have three tough games in a row to close out the regular season; Lake Mary, STA, and Benjamin. They could either move up or off the top ten list.
