The MLL trade deadline came and went yesterday afternoon and the Launch have made a number of transactions:

– DAVID EARL (M) REMAINS ON INJURED RESERVE – 1 GAME EXT (WEEK 11)
– WAIVES TIM DESKO (A)
– MOVES ADAM FULLERTON (G) FROM ACTIVE ROSTER TO PRACTICE SQUAD

– RECEIVES MARK DIFRANGIA (D) IN TRADE WITH CHESAPEAKE
– TRADES CHRIS LAPIERRE (M) TO NEW YORK
– RECEIVES 2017 3RD ROUND COLLEGIATE DRAFT PICK IN TRADE WITH NEW YORK
– TRADES 2016 5TH ROUND SUPPLEMENTAL DRAFT PICK TO OHIO
– RECEIVES JOVAN MILLER (M) IN TRADE WITH OHIO
———-
Acton has started on defense each game this year until his injury and Earl’s absence has hurt given his two-way play at midfield.
Desko has never suited up for the Launch.
Austin Kaut starred at Penn State where in his senior year he was named the top goalie in the country and was first-team All American. He played a short amount of time with the Boston Cannons in 2014 and was waived last week as Boston already has Jordan Burke and Adam Ghitelman on the active roster, making Kaut available.
The trade of Chris LaPierre is interesting since he was a full-time player for the Launch who was originally the 2nd overall pick of the 2013 MLL draft when the franchise played in Hamilton and played mostly a defensive middie role for the Launch. The 3rd round pick will likely be at the end of the third round, or in the 23-24 range of the draft. In the last draft that area was where the Launch drafted Kevin Rice so that pick certainly has value.
Mark Difrangia is being reunited with former St. John’s teammate Kieran Mcardle and had just been claimed by Chesapeake in the ‘Undrafted College Senior Pool’ earlier this month.
Jovan Miller finally joins the Launch as he was originally claimed by the Launch a few weeks back, only to be claimed by Ohio, which had the higher claim priority that week. Miller played for Syracuse (another one . . . I think I have to put my hopes for a Hobart grad on the Launch higher on my bucket list . . .) and has two championship rings. In all likelihood he will slot into LaPierre’s role on the team and certainly will help out on the clear with his speed.

FLN will be listening to the MLL’s conference call today to see how Coach Ross describes his vision for the new acquisitions. Clearly the Launch are looking forward to next season as far as getting the young players as much playing time as possible. This is clearly a year of transition, as we have discussed before. In all likelihood the Launch will have the first or second overall pick this year and it will be interesting to see what other major piece of the rebuild will be added.
