Local Laxmen Help FCA to Lake Placid U18 Silver Championship

One of the more prestigious summer lacrosse events occurs every summer in Lake Placid, New York, a location that needs no introduction to sports fans everywhere as the site of the 1980 Miracle on Ice.  Combine that with a team entered by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (’FCA’) and you have the stage set for a nice story.  Throw in a couple of Florida kids that were able to make the FCA team and then have the team win the championship in their age group and the story is complete. The Florida participants were Stephano Mastro, an attackman from Tampa Jesuit (‘2015) and Jordan Rapport, LSM/Defenseman from The First Academy in Orlando (‘2015).  Stephano scored a goal and assisted on two others in the championship game while Jordan played a nice role in FCA limiting their championship game opponent Bar Down Lacrosse of New Hampshire to 2 goals in the 11-2 victory. A complete recap of the championship game can be found at Inside Lacrosse: http://www.insidelacrosse.com/news/2013/08/07/lake-placid-boys-scholastic-champions-crowned-grand-masters-super-gm-ultra-gm Coach Dean Curtis had this to say about the FCA teams: “We try to give them an experience that’s different than maybe anything they’ve had in these other tournaments and showcases that they’ve been to during the year,” said Curtis, who has been at the Summit Classic for the better part of the last decade as a player and now as a coach. “This is really laid back and it’s about building relationships with other guys, and that’s built around this tournament. When you look at it, the big difference is that it’s about bonding and building those relationships. … This is a great group of kids, and they deserved a hard-fought win.” Congratulations to Stephano and Jordan for representing our state so well!
