Lynn: Lacrosse Snaps Skid, Fends off Walsh in One-Goal Victory 13-12

The 17th-ranked Fighting Knights at least had an answer for every Cavaliers push as the Blue and White ended their northern road trip with a 13-12 nonconference triumph to get back in the win column. STATS OF THE GAME:
  • Mikey Urso didn’t start for the first time this season, but a change in offensive role proved to be a positive as the redshirt-sophomore matched his career-high with seven points. He tied his career-high for assists set two days ago with four and added a hat trick in the scoring column while being held without a turnover for the first time this year.
  • Austin Jerhoff led Lynn’s scoring attack with four goals – his second four-goal game of the season – and added a helper for five points.
  • Brian Kiel and Johnny Gavin recorded identical stat lines, adding two goals and an assist apiece.
  • Tully Wise and Greg Morissette each logged their second goals of the season, with Wise also tallying a helper.
  • Sean Escalante, Nick Howard and Caleb Cerf all contributed to Lynn’s 11 assists in the game.
  • Dryden Brous went 15-of-22 at the X, topping his career-high yet again for faceoff wins along with groundballs (9).
  • Cerf (4) and Peter Masters (5) chipped in nine groundballs, with Masters logging a career-high.
  • Mark Pryor led the defense with two caused turnovers, a season-high.
  • Collin McClelland earned the win in the cage and made seven stops.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Lynn has now won the faceoff battle in all seven games this season. 
  • Urso has eight assists over the past two games.
  • Lynn went 4-of-5 on man-up opportunities for a season-high 80% success rate.
  • The Fighting Knights’ 11 assists on 13 goals is their most since 17 assists on 22 goals in the season opener.
  • Lynn snapped a three-game losing streak.
  • It was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
  • Lynn is ranked No. 17 in this week’s USILA Coaches Poll and No. 18 by US Lacrosse.
UP NEXT: Lynn returns to sunny Florida for the remainder of the regular season, kicking off conference play on Saturday, March 25 with a 5 p.m. home contest against Florida Tech.
