Lynn Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Shorter on the Road

ROME, Ga.- Lynn University’s men’s lacrosse team fell to Shorter, 14-9, on Friday night in the first road game of the season. The Fighting Knights were led by Dante Egan who had his first hat trick as a Fighting Knights while Tyler Janvrin had two goals and an assist. Taylor Ferrino made 13 saves in goal including five in the third quarter. Lynn came out hot in the first quarter, scoring four goals. The first two came in the opening three minutes both by Egan. Brian Kiel scored for the Fighting Knights to put them ahead, 3-1, but SU’s Matt Kristiansen scored his second goal to cut the Blue & White’s lead to one. Janvrin scored with 4:41 remaining in the quarter but the Hawks would finish with two more goals to knot the scoreboard at 4-all. Shorter scored four unanswered goals to open the second quarter before Christ D’Angelo found the back of the net to cut Lynn’s deficit to 8-5 with 9:14 remaining in the half. Neither team would score as the clock wound down to halftime for Shorter to hold a three-goal advantage. After the break the Hawks added five more goals in the third quarter while holding Lynn to just two shots. The Blue & White rallied in the fourth quarter, scoring four consecutive goals, but it was not enough to overcome Shorter. D’Angelo won 11-of-18 face-offs for Lynn while picking up a team-high six ground balls. Turnovers plagued the Blue & White, who had 24 in the loss and nine alone in the third quarter. Shorter was led by Kristiansen who scored a game-high five goals while adding an assist. Lynn returns to the field on Sunday, March 16, in Atlanta, Ga., when the Fighting Knight’s take on Lenoir-Rhyne at 12:00 p.m. Fans can follow live stats at LynnFightingKnights.com.
