TALLAHASSEE, FL — Maclay School announces the hiring of Tyler Hardy as the new Maclay Varsity Lacrosse Coach. Hardy, a three-time All-American defenseman at Duke (1994-97), Academic All-American, and the 1996 National Defensive Player of the Year brings experience to Maclay. While at Duke, Hardy earned the Carmen Falcone Award for leadership and citizenship, which is only awarded to one varsity athlete each year. Hardy coached for two seasons at Duke as the defensive coordinator before moving to the high school ranks. From 2001 to 2004, he was the Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Taft School in Connecticut, leading the team to a top ten national ranking, two league championships, and an undefeated season. At Taft, Hardy coached two-All-Americans, while his team set the league record for fewest goals against per game in a season. Many of his players went on to play at schools such as UVA, Duke, Yale and Cornell, among others. Hardy’s overall record at Taft was 49-7. In 2004, Hardy moved west to Jackson Hole no faxing cash advance payday loans, Wyoming, where he helped to found an independent high school, while at the same time, starting a youth lacrosse program which grew to over 100 players. Hardy, who has family and friends in Florida, is familiar with the successful lacrosse tradition at Maclay, and is anxious to move to Tallahassee to build on its success. “I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the Maclay Lacrosse program in 2015,” Hardy said. “And to build upon the strong tradition established by former and current players and coaches.” Maclay Athletic Director Scott Eagen is excited to have someone of Hardy’s experience take over the Maclay lacrosse program. “He is already familiar with many of our players. He has been involved with education and coaching for the past 15 years, and ran an extremely successful high school program in Connecticut.” A veteran Marauder team will be returning this season to play for Hardy. Maclay Lacrosse has enjoyed much success over the years including a Final 8 finish the last two seasons. ###
