Gulliver Prep (5-7) came in ready to play, striking less than 1 minute into the game thanks to a faceoff win from Cordero, scoring again less than 2 minutes later to up their lead to 2-0. After a timeout, Maclay would pick up their first on a Stephen Chase goal, driving from x to the left wing and finishing on the opposite high corner. Gulliver would respond 30 seconds later on a Cordero unassisted goal. With 1:15 left in the period, Maclay attackman Luke Langford scored his first of 3, bringing the score to 3-2 at the end of the first quarter. The 2nd quarter would see the pace slow down, with Maclay scoring 30 seconds into the quarter.  Jack Berg scored on an assist from Stephen Chase on a busted clear. Gulliver would score their last goal with 5:50 remaining in the 2nd quarter, their last until late in the fourth quarter. The second quarter featured great, physical defense on both sides with great goaltending for both teams as well. Gulliver asserted their physical nature on Maclay, causing both offenses to possess the ball for long periods and several turn overs. The officiating crew allowed both teams to play through, however. The third quarter would turn in favor for Maclay. In a 3:30 span, Maclay would scored 3 unanswered goals, two consecutive unassisted for Stephen Chase, and then Luke Langford gathered his second off an assist from Javier Masferrer.  Maclay would keep the ball for long periods of time, preventing the Gulliver offense from gathering a rhythm in their transition game. The same would continue in the fourth quarter. Stephen Chase showed off his variety of skills, dodging underneath the Gulliver defense to up the score to 8-4, with Chad Minter scoring less than 15 seconds later after winning the faceoff and overrunning a looming double by both wing players. Gulliver would finally score for the first time in the second half with 6:28 remaining in the game, followed shortly by a goal from Cordero for his 2nd and final of the game. Maclay would kill the last four plus minutes of clock to end the game. Stephen Chase (15, Notre Dame) lead the way for the Marauders with 5 goals and 1 assist. Luke Langford chipped in 3 goals, Jack Berg would add 1, and Chad Minter would add 1 goal as well. Javier Masferrer chipped in 2 assists while Teddy Transou (15, Duke) led the way in groundballs with 11. The Marauders prepare for another north-Florida show down with Bolles on Saturday in Tallahassee, while Gulliver takes a break until Miami-Palmetto on April 1st. The highlight of the game was undoubtedly the great weather and the fact the two teams played despite a geographic separation of 500+ miles.
