BOCA RATON, Fla.- Lynn University lacrosse head coach Brian Kingsbury announced that Mikey Urso has committed to play at Lynn University this coming season. Urso, a native of Boynton Beach, Fla., was a 2014 graduate of Pope John Paul II High School in Boca Raton. Urso returns home to South Florida after redshirting a year at Mount St. Mary’s in Emmitsburg, Md. “It is great to get a local player to join the Lynn team after his Division I experience,” Kingsbury. “I worked with Mike at the Brine Games this year and we are excited to work with his speed, shiftiness and outside shot.” Urso, a 5-foot-9 attack/midfielder, played four years for the Eagles at PJPII HS where he earned First Team All-District honors three times. He was twice an All-Region selection and was named All-America during his senior season. Urso also served as a two-time team captain his junior and senior years. “I am sure the Urso family and Pope John Paull II lacrosse community is excited to have Mike playing for the only NCAA men’s lacrosse program in South Florida,” added Kingsbury. Lynn posted an 8-7 record in 2015 and returns 22 players including All-Sunshine State Conference Second Team selections Anthony Rainone and Shaun McDonald as well as five All-Freshman Team honorees. Kingsbury was named the SSC Coach of the Year after the Fighting Knights posted one of the best turnarounds in Division II, winning seven more games than the previous year and qualifying for the SSC Tournament.
