JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – In its continuing effort to support residents of North Florida, the Jacksonville men’s lacrosse team and marketing department, in partnership with Lace Up with LAX, collected 110 pairs of new and gently-used shoes prior to the Dolphins’ Feb. 27 clash with Duke at D.B. Milne Field to benefit the City Rescue Mission (CRM). “It is always a rewarding experience when our guys can help others and in that process learn how blessed they really are,” Jacksonville coach Guy Van Arsdale said. “The realization that it is incumbent upon all of us that are blessed to reach out and help those that require it whenever we have that opportunity is one of the core growth opportunities in our program. All of the shoes were donated to CRM in downtown Jacksonville. “We thank the university for choosing us to give the donation,” Rick Lee, manager of the CRM Thrift Store and warehouse, said. “It was well-received, and we have already got shoes out and in hands of the homeless and needy. What the team did really goes a long way.” Jacksonville’s men’s lacrosse team has used its home games to support a variety of charities this season, including the campaigns for John Michael Night and CRM. Lace Up With LAX is dedicated to defining the legacy of lacrosse players off the field by working to provide children who are homeless a new pair of shoes and in turn, a step to a brighter future.
