Author’s Note: Frankly I think Austin Kaut got jobbed . . .BOSTON (May 22, 2017) – Charlotte Hounds goalie Pierce Bassett was named the Warrior Defensive Player of the Week for Week 5. Bassett and the Hounds earned a 10-8 win against the Machine on Saturday night. Bassett, 25, made 16 saves total and made eight saves in the fourth quarter alone. The fourth-year pro was making his first start of the season in place of Charlie Cipriano, who was away from the team due to a personal matter. He became the first goalie to limit the Machine to single-digit goals since John Galloway on June 2, 2016 and tallied his first win as a starting goalie since the 2015 season. In 23 career games, Bassett has a 13.12 goals against average and a .519 save percentage. Previous Winners
