Nease Pulls Away in the Fourth to Get Past Benedictine Academy (GA)

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in .
Nease and Benedictine Academy had a tightly contested game today. The end of the first half found Nease on top 3-2.  Nease had the advantage in time of possession and were able to keep the ball moving, dodging with the middies at from the top and hitting the alleys.  But the Benedictine defenders are able keep the Nease dodgers on the outside. Benedictine was explosive and was able to capitalize on transition to tie the game early in the third quarter. Stephen Hemingway picked up a loose ball on the rebound and was able to put Nease out front.  Shortly after that, Logan Smith called for the ball as he subbed in.  Hemingway hit him with a long pass and Smith just drove right down the alley and buried it to give the Panthers a 5-3 advantage and they would not give it up. Nease ended up with the 7-4 win.  Nease was led by Hemingway with two goals.  Cotter, Smith, Forest, Oliviera, and Whiting all had one goal in a very well balanced offensive effort.  Kent Norris finished the day with 8 saves. For Benedictine Academy, Connor DeWitt (Army) scored 1 goal and three assists.  Everett Coomer had two goals and Dylan Thomas added one more.
