Brevard, N.C.- Brevard College Athletic Director Juan Mascaro is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Anderson as the Director of Lacrosse and first-ever head men’s lacrosse coach at Brevard College. Anderson comes to Brevard from Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia, where he has served as the men’s assistant lacrosse coach since October of 2010. At Piedmont, Anderson was an integral part of the cultivation of the men’s lacrosse program for their first year of NCAA Division III competition in the spring of 2012. “We are extremely excited to have Kevin on board to begin the foundation of the lacrosse program at Brevard College,” said Mascaro. “Kevin has demonstrated the ability to recruit high quality student-athletes, and his experience with the establishment of lacrosse as a new sport on a college campus will prove invaluable.” Anderson was responsible for on-field coaching, recruiting, opponent scouting, and academic support while at Piedmont. Anderson helped coach the Lions to a 5-7 record in their inaugural season, and led an offense that finished 21st in the country in goals scored average. “I am looking forward to introducing the Brevard community to the sport of lacrosse, and starting a tradition of lacrosse excellence at Brevard College,” Anderson said. Anderson concluded his tenure at Piedmont as an Admissions Advisor, where his duties included implementing recruitment strategies and managing a recruitment territory to assist in achieving enrollment goals for the college. Prior to his time at Piedmont, Anderson served as a coach for the Chadstone Lacrosse Club of Melbourne, Australia in the summer of 2009. Anderson was a four-year starter and two-year team captain on the Pfeiffer University lacrosse team from 2005-2009. He was named Team MVP and finished eighth in the nation in assists per game as a senior. Brevard College’s first lacrosse season is slated for the spring of 2014. Men’s and women’s lacrosse are two of four new South Atlantic Conference sports on the league’s 2013-14 schedule.
