Palm Beach Was A Blast!

FLN thought we would salute the parents and families who support the many players on the fields with our feature picture. The 2015 edition of the Palm Beach Blast at Wellington (officially known as the PDQ Palm Beach Blast thanks to sponsorship by one of the newest and best food purveyors in our area) was most likely the best to date. Played on both Polo and park fields in Wellington, the weather cooperated and as usual the event was very well run.
One small shout out to the referees. An event as large as this one is always a challenge to the ever expanding referee pool in a sport which is growing so fast in Florida it is often hard to have every game called by experienced pros. In general, this appeared to be a job really well done by the officiating crew.
115 teams from all over the state participated in divisions from U9 to U19. So, let’s do the math. Roughly 20 players per team x 1.5 (our guess) family, and so on as noted below:
115 teams x
20 players per team =
2,300 players x
1.5 family members attending with players =
3,450 family +
300 coaches +
40 referees +
40 miscellaneous staff =
Let’s just call it a round 6,000 people who spent multiple days eating, drinking and staying in our county thanks to this event. Pretty nice showing!
Enjoy these pictures of some great play!
