Saint Leo: Burns, Fraser Set Records on Women’s Lacrosse Senior Day

via press release – via SL web site   SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women’s lacrosse team saw seniors Kelsey Burns and Caroline Fraser savor their senior day experience as the duo etched their names in the Saint Leo record books. The Lions fell to No. 15 Regis, 18-12, on Saturday in the Lions’ Senior Day game at University Turf Stadium. Burns entered the game needing six points to make her way to the top of the leader board, and the senior needed just four goals to reach 100 for her career. Burns took it upon herself to make it a Senior Day to remember. Burns finished the day with six goals and an assist, bringing her career goals total to 102 and making her the first player in program history to reach the milestone. Burns also brought her career points total to 123, breaking the Saint Leo record of 121 set by Christina Minneci (2012-15). Fellow senior Caroline Fraser also had a memorable Senior Day as she entered the game needing just two assists to break the Career Assists record set of 42 by Alix Murray (2012-15). Fraser now has 43 career assists as she finished the game with two assists and a goal. The Rangers would respond and score the next four goals before Leslie Ferguson would snag another for the Lions. Regis added two more before Kaylah Walstad would add a free position shot. Regis would score another, making it 7-3. In less than a minute, Burns would score two goals as the middie scored a free position shot and then was able to put in an unassisted goal. Regis tallied three scores in the final 2:27 before Burns put in her 100th career goal with 10 seconds left in the half. | Regis 10-6 2H | The Ranger scored the first three goals of the second half before the Lions would go on a three-goal run of their own. Burns tallied another point as she dished out an assist to Sabrina Sanacore, and it was followed by free position goals from Abbie Ross and Leslie Ferguson. Regis tack on two more, before Burns was able to find the back of the net for her record-breaking score. It was followed by a Fraser goal off the feed from Ross. The Rangers tallied two more before Burns would score off the dish from Fraser, giving Fraser the school assists record with 5:22 left in the game.
