From SaintLeoLions.com SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women’s lacrosse team announced its captains for the 2015-16 season in seniors Allie Sheftall and Katie Krause, as decided by the coaches, with input from the rest of the team. “Allie and Katie were both chosen for their dedication to their team and their tireless work ethic for self-improvement,” said head coach Lesley Graham. “They epitomize what we look for in leaders—pushing themselves in every rep, helping their teammates who need it and always putting team first. I know they will both use this spring to help lead our team in the right direction.” Sheftall, who will enter her second season as a team captain, was a 2015 Second Team All-Sunshine State Conference selection after scoring 16 goals and adding seven assists from the mid-field. “Allie had experience last year as a captain, and she is a well-rounded player on the field, making her someone who is easy to talk to,” Graham said of her senior midfielder. Krause started all 17 games last season, causing seven turnovers, causing 14 ground balls and two draw controls as a solid defender for the Lions. “Katie is the strong and quiet type—not one for flashy plays or desired attention, but who wants to be better because it makes her team better,” Graham said of her steadfast defender. The Lions will open the 2016 season on the road on Feb. 27, as they take on Lenoir-Rhyne in Hickory, North Carolina.
