Season 2! Doug Shanahan’s St. Brendan’s – Week 6 of the Season

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in .
FLN has asked Head Coach Doug Shanahan of St. Brendan High School in Miami to continue to share his thoughts on how he is building his new program through what is now their second season and Doug has graciously agreed to do so. Here is his latest submission! We thank Doug for taking the time to do this and letting our readers experience this unique insight.   As we are at the half way point of the season, St Brendan finds ourselves at 5-4. This marks the first time in our program’s brief history that we are over .500. Just another benchmark that shows that the program is continuing to improve, which I am delighted to report!   St Brendan John Carroll Catholic 2016 #3               The key for us right now, as we move into another week of 3 games, is staying healthy, and keeping our guys fresh. As a coach this means carefully managing practice time and the number of contact drills we are doing to ensure we keep our skill levels up at the same time. Last week we played Columbus, Westminster, and John Carroll. This week we see rematches with Westminster, which was a 1 goal game, and John Carroll, who will come to us this time. Perhaps the biggest game of the week is our District 30 match up with LaSalle. Our final regular season district game is versus Miami Country Day on 3/15. So, in the next 8 days we will know if our goal of making it to the District Playoff will be a reality. — Doug Shanahan St Brendan High School Assistant Athletic Director Lacrosse Director & Head Coach
