SSC Lacrosse Athletes of the Week: February 20 – 26

via press release   Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week Justin Diamond / Rollins College / Sr. / Attack / Syracuse, New York Diamond is awarded Offensive Player of the Week after his performance against No. 19 Indianapolis. Diamond scored four goals in the contest, including the game winner in overtime. The Syracuse, New York native was the catalyst in the Tars’ come-from-behind victory as he accounted for three goals as the Tars came storming back with five unanswered goals to eventual win 9-8 in overtime. Rollins is now 3-1 on the season. Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week Jake Hogan / Rollins College / Jr. / GoalKeeper / Westwood, Massachusetts Hogan is named the Defensive Player of the Week after helping secure a Top-20 victory for Rollins. Hogan faced 33 shots and tallied 11 total saves in the Tars’ come-from-behind victory against No. 19 UIndy. The Westwood, Massachusetts native had a .579 save percentage during the 63 minutes he was in front of the net. The Tars are now 3-1 on the season. Men’s Lacrosse Specialist of the Week Sam Watts / University of Tampa / Jr. / Midfield / Buffalo, New York Watts earns his second Specialist of the Week award after his play against No. 2 Limestone. Watts won 14-of-26 faceoffs as Tampa fell, 12-10, to the powerful Limestone squad. The Buffalo, New York native grabbed three ground balls in the losing effort. Tampa is now 3-2 overall on the season.   Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week Caroline Dunleavy / Florida Tech / Jr. / Attack / Annapolis, Maryland Dunleavy has been named the Offensive Player of the Week after totaling 10 points on the road against a pair of .600 win teams from 2016. The Annapolis, Maryland native had four goals and one assist as the Panthers defeated Belmont Abbey, 17-5. Dunleavy then had a four goal and one assist game as FIT defeated Tiffin, 17-9.  With the play of Dunleavy, the Panthers improve to 2-1 on the season.   Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week Delaney Chrisco / Saint Leo University / Fr. / MidField / Wilmington, Delaware Chrisco has earned the Defensive Player of the Week after causing two turnovers and collecting five groundballs. In her first collegiate game, the Wilmington, Delaware native also added a goal after having two shots on goal in a 21-2 victory of Newberry. Saint Leo is now 1-0 as they open their season.
