via press release   Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week Conor Whipple / University of Tampa / Sr. / Attack / Tampa, Florida Whipple earns his third Offensive Player of the Week award after tallying 15 points across two games. The Tampa native combined for six goals and nine assists against No. 5 NYIT and RV Florida Southern. In a losing effort at No. 5 NYIT, he netted four goals and dished out three assists and defensively picked up two ground balls and caused two turnovers as the Spartans fell 13-11. He also had two goals and six assists and picked up one ground ball against RV Florida Southern. The Spartans are now 10-4 overall and 3-0 in conference play. The honor is Whipple’s 11th of his career, the most in SSC lacrosse history. Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week Jake Bye / Saint Leo University / Jr. / Defender / Port Coquitlam, British Columbia  Bye is awarded Defensive Player of the Week following five ground balls, a caused one turnover, and two goals in Saint Leo’s defeat of No. 19 Florida Tech. The Port Coquitlam, British Columbia native was apart of a team effort that included going 22-25 on clear attempts and held the Panther’s defense to just 2-7 on man-up attempts. Along with playing a big role on defensive side, he was also able to score two unassisted goals on clear attempts. Following the 13-8 victory, the Lions are now 9-3 overall and 1-2 in SSC play. Men’s Lacrosse Specialist of the Week Dryden Brous / Lynn University / Fr. / Faceoff / Ocean City, Maryland Brous receives his second Specialist Player of the Week award after a strong performance in the faceoff X, going 14-of-20 (.700) against RV Rollins. The Ocean City, Maryland native also picked up nine ground balls and offensively had two assists in the overtime loss against Rollins 12-11. The Fighting Knights are now 4-6 overall and 0-3 in SSC play.   Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week Sara Grenier / Florida Tech / Jr. / Attack / Oakland, Maine Grenier earns her first Offensive Player of the Week honors after she had a season-high seven points in a victory against No. 15 Regis 15-13. The Oakland, Maine native ended up scoring six goals and an assist while also producing two caused turnovers and picking up one ground ball on the defensive side. With the help of Grenier, the Panthers went on a 9-1 run to come back from being down six at halftime. FIT is now 9-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play. The award is the third of Grenier’s collegiate career. Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week Mary Gormley / Florida Tech / Jr. / Midfield / Denver, Colorado  With her performance against No. 15 Regis, Gormley earns the Defensive Player of the Week award. The Denver, Colorado native picked up five ground balls, caused four turnovers, and had three draw controls as the Panthers took down Regis, 15-13. She also played a role on the offensive side by scoring two goals and dishing out an assist. With the help of Gormley, the Panthers are now 9-2 overall and 0-1 in the SSC.
