Four more top prospects enroll in the program for the 2015-16 season.
The four latest additions include:
· Christophe Cote (Mount Royal, Quebec, Canada/Defense/Class of 2017) – Cote is a heavily recruited prospect and is regarded as one of the top defenseman in North America. The 6-foot, 210-pound team captain of the Ottawa Capitals was recently named to the All-Canada and 3D All-Star teams.
· Drake Porter (Aurora, Ontario, Canada/Goalie/Class of 2017) – Porter is a 5-foot-11 goalie who began playing lacrosse at the age of six, earning much of his experience with the Edge Lacrosse Program, while starting for his varsity team, and starting for Newmarket Redbirds U19. Porter was also named MVP of the 2014 All-Canada Games Championship game and was named to the All-Ontario Team.
· Ian Foster (East Lansing, Mich./Face-off/Class of 2016) – Foster is a former two-sport athlete in hockey and lacrosse, and played club lacrosse with the New Hampshire Tomahawks and Team Total Lacrosse. Foster was also a National 175 MVP and a Lakes Region Champion.
· Griffin Hayes (Clifford, Pa./Defense/Class of 2016) – Hayes is a 6-foot-3 defenseman and former three-sport player in football, lacrosse and track & field. Now focused on lacrosse, Hayes joins IMG Academy as one of the top players from Pennsylvania, where he led his varsity team in ground balls and takeaways each of the past two years. Hayes is also the grandson of Tom Hayes, the renowned former head coach of men’s lacrosse at Rutgers, who now serves as Vice President of Development at the Federation of International Lacrosse.
In November, Cam Badour (Greely, Ottawa, Canada/Attack/Class of 2017) became the first member of the growing incoming class for 2015-16. The 6-foot-4 Badour is a verbal commit to Duke University and is ranked the #19 overall North American prospect for his class by Inside Lacrosse, and #2 from North America by 3D Rising. Badour earned his standing after being named an All-Canada Games All-Star twice, as well as a Maverik Show Time Showcase All-Star and 3D FLG All-Star. Earlier this year he was also named to Team Ontario’s U16 team representing them at the National Championship in August.
All five enrollees are expected to arrive on campus in August 2015. In the meantime, the IMG Academy Lacrosse Program recently completed a challenging fall tournament schedule, going 11-0 at two high profile recruiting tournaments in Maryland, and winning the U17 and U19 championships at the second-annual IMG Nationals year-end lacrosse national championship in November. The program gets underway for spring competition in February 2015.
