Here’s an excerpt from the Boys Preview:
After failing to advance past districts for the first time in school history two years ago, 2015 was a return to form for St. Andrew’s.
Under new coach Tony Seaman, the powerhouse program – which dominated Florida for much of the past two decades – captured the district title and reached the state tournament before falling to St. Thomas Aquinas in the semifinals. While the Scots came up short, they return nearly every key contributor from last year’s team.
Leading the way offensively is Albany signee Davis Diamond. The senior has established himself as one of the area’s best dodgers and distributors from the midfield. Junior Nick Iznaga was the team’s breakout star last season and will be counted on to lead the attack. Defensively, the Scots should be stout with senior long-stick midfielder Conlan O’Hara and transfer goalie Nick Ferraro leading the unit.
Meanwhile, St. Thomas Aquinas continued its ascent among the state elite with a sensational 21-1 record. The Raiders only blemish was a 13-11 defeat to Lake Highland Prep in the state championship. This year, St. Thomas Aquinas will be tasked with replacing some key contributors, most notably midfielders Alex Tumminello (Maryland), J.P. Crowley (Towson) and Alec Cumella (Rollins).
Fortunately, the Raiders return one of the state’s best midfielders in Louie Yovino (Furman), who tallied 69 goals last season. In addition, junior attackman Kevin Crowley (Hofstra) and senior goalie Mike Adler (Saint Joseph’s) are among the best in their positions statewide.
