Flanagan’s Michael Francis is one of only four players from the 2015 team who had played every year since the team’s inaugural 2012 season. He was also the first football player to venture out onto the lacrosse field and opened the door for other multi sport athletes to pick up a stick and give it a try. According to head coach Philip Garza, one a couple of players in the programs history had ever touched a stick prior to joining the team.
Francis is hooked on the game and plans to continue playing next year at Ottawa University. Ottawa is an NAIA program in Ottawa, KS. Ottawa is getting set for their inaugural lacrosse season.
DeAndre Hampton is set to head up to Ohio Valley University. The defenseman will be playing NCAA DII lacrosse ECAC.
Nicoli McCarthy is going to play at the University of the District of Columbia. An excellent student (3.5 G.P.A,) McCarthy is majoring in Sports Medicine. The UDC Firebirds play NCAA DII in the East Coast Conference. “I wish to thank my mother Necola McCarthy and coach Phillip Garza LSM.”
We asked Coach Garza how he is helping these players with the recruiting and he said, “I’ve been able to get these guys looked at because of Field Level and Hudl. We started using Hudl last year. It’s the best coaching tool I’ve had and a great way for kids to make their highlights, so I can send them to all the coaches I have connected with on Field Level. I have over 230 connection with coaches from D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and MCLA schools. I send our athlete’s film out and then interested coaches get back to us and the recruiting process continues from there.”
Keep up the great work Coach and best of luck to these guys as they carry banner for their team to the next level.
