Above – Steven Torres scored 7 goals and an assist in Timber Creek’s season opener Timber Creek hosted Lake Nona in Coach Trey Gordon’s debut as the head coach. The TCHS boys gave Coach Gordon his inaugural victory. The final score in favor of the Wolves was 16-0. The outcome of the game was never really in question, with TCHS controlling the tempo with a solid performance from their face off guys Sean Johnson (12 of 13 or 92%) and Ryan Hutchison (4 of 5 or 80%). By the end of the 1st TC was up 7-0, despite sloppy play by both teams. TC had multiple opportunities to score that they failed to convert and LN didn’t possess the ball past mid-field until there were two minutes left in the first. When they did they were shut down by strong defensive play by Cam Von Dyke, Braden Cassatta, Evan Walker and George Gunn, which continued for the entire game as the score would show. The 2nd was much the same as the 1st for LN, when they did advance the ball Bennett Hopkins turned them away with a number of solid saves (6 saves). TC’s offense got rolling with some beautiful scores from the deadly combination of Steven Torres and Nate Gillan. The 1st half ended with the score TC 12 and LN 0. The 3rd was dictated by a dominant midfield performance from Johnson, Jake Sousa and Ryan Hutchison. They controlled the ball from face to score, pretty much the entire period. Hutchison scored off a nice face to midline run that showed his athleticism. The final period started with a running clock and TC closed out the scoring with Parker Watts finding net for his score. Hunter Loper played well between the pipes after relieving Bennett Hopkins. Coach Gordon used the closing minutes to get his sophmore’s some very valuable game time to close the game out with his first win as head coach at Timber Creek.
