University of Tampa head coach Rory Whipple has picked up a player largely regarded as one of the top attackmen of Florida’s 2012 class.

Jake said he is, “looking forward to being back in my home state and playing with some of the friends I made playing high school lacrosse here in Florida.”

During Rooney’s All American senior season at Timber Creek career he scored 108 points and led Timber Creek to the district championship. He saw time in three games at Hofstra during his freshmen season picking up a pair of ground balls.

Rooney will be joining other 2012 Florida graduates Cody Prizer (LHP) and Joey McMahon (Bishop Moore) who matriculated to Tampa upon graduating from high school.
