UT Chosen to Host Second Straight SSC Tournament
MELBOURNE, FLA – The No.9 University of Tampa Spartans men’s lacrosse team will host the 2015 Sunshine State Conference Championship tournament. Action begins on Friday at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Intramural Complex.The Spartans will be hoping to capture their second consecutive conference tournament title.
The first leg of the semifinal will be played on Friday at 4 p.m. between No. 2 seed Florida Tech Panthers and No. 3 Rollins College. The second semifinal matchup is set for an 8 p.m. start featuring the No.1 seed Tampa Spartans and No.4 seed Lynn Fighting Knights. The winners of the two matchups will meet in the Championship game on Sunday which is slated to begin at 1 p.m. UT enters the tournament with a 13-2, 5-0 record and riding a 10 game conference streak dating back to last season. Last time out No.9 Tampa defeated No.13 Florida Tech 10-8 to earn the top seed. LU enters with the tournament with an 8-6, 2-3 coming off a 12-10 conference win over Saint Leo which earned them their first appearance in the tournament. Fans may purchase tickets at the gate for $10 (adults), and $6 (students and senior citizens). Children under 12 will be admitted free. UT faculty/staff and students will also be admitted free with a valid Spartan ID card courtesy of student government. Visitor parking is available in the parking garage north of the Martinez Center.All SSC tournament games will be streamed through TampaSpartans.tv, as the host will also offer free live stats for all matches through Tampa.Statbroadcast.com.
