Utica College Adds Three Floridians to the Roster

Above – Pope’s Johnny Hanlon (#25) along with Estero’s Lucas Richmond and Josh Lavy will join Cardinal Newman’s Patrick Dickson at Utica this fall. Utica College in central New York has announced their incoming freshmen class for the fall 2015. They include 3 players from  the state of Florida.  They are Johnny Hanlon lll (FO/Midfield) from Pope John Paul ll, Lucas Richmond (Midfield/Defense) and Josh Lavy (FO/Midfield) both from Estero High School. Hanlon will receive the presidential scholarship award at Utica College and will be majoring in the 5 year Physical Therapy doctorate program. Richmond was team Captain and plays both short and long pole. He ended the season with 22 goals, 9 assists, and 31 ground balls.  Richmond earned the Acievement   Scholarship and will be majoring in Business Economics. Josh Lavy split face-offs and played midfield in all 17 games this season, and added 10 goals, 9 assists, 31 ground balls, and a face-off winning percentage of 55%. Lavy earned the Presidential Scholarship at Utica College and will be majoring in Economic Crimes in the school of Criminal Justice. The three incoming freshmen will join Patrick Dickson of Cardinal Newman High School in Bocca Raton who will begin his sophomore year after finishing his freshman season with 2 goals and 1 assist. Utica College plays in the highly competitive Empire 8 Conference, and have finished above .500 for several seasons in a row. Utica feels this years recruiting class of 20 incoming freshman will lead them win the Empire 8 Conference and propel them into the NCAA tournament . The coaching staff at Utica College believes Florida high school lacrosse student athletes are becoming valuable assets to the college lacrosse program. We look forward to recruiting more fine lacrosse athletes from  the state again for the  next years class. Utica College is coached by Mike Parnell who is in his 12th season, assisted by Gary Jackson (42 yrs), and Cortland graduate and National Champion (99) and Tournament MVP Brandon Mitzack.
