PERRY, N.Y. (CentreColonels.com) – Earlier this week the United State Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association announced its selections for the 75th USILA/Nike Division III All-Star Game at Cabrini College and Centre senior Matt Hughes (Vero Beach, Fla.) was named to the South roster. Hughes is the first representative of Centre College on the North-South All-Star roster in the six-year history of the Centre men’s lacrosse program. Hughes is also the only player from any Southern Athletic Association team to earn the invite to the game this season. The 2015-16 Centre Male Student-Athlete of the Year, Hughes will officially cap off his college lacrosse career after earning First Team All-SAA honors in 2015 and 2016. As a senior, Hughes ranked second on the team with 39 points and finished his final year for the Colonels with 24 goals and 15 assists. Hughes’s 115 career points rank him fifth on the all-time Centre men’s lacrosse scoring list. Hughes also ranks fourth in program history in both goals (78) and assists (37). The Colonels posted a record of 44-18 in Hughes’s four years with the program, including a pair of SAA championships, an SAA Tournament title and two berths in the NCAA Tournament.
