from Press Release MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference announced it’s men’s lacrosse Player of the Week awards Monday afternoon via the conference office, earning the honors for Offensive Player of the Week was University of Tampa’s Conor Whipple. The junior attacker played a vital role in the Spartans opening game of the 2016 season, as they defeated the Tusculum College Pioneers 17-9. Whipple accounted for over 50 percent of UT’s offense as he had a hand in nine of Tampa’s 17 goals, scoring five goals while dishing out four assists in the contest. This marks the sixth time the two-time All-American has garnered SSC Player of the Week honors during his career as a Spartan. The University of Tampa men’s lacrosse team is back in action this week as they face off against No. 5 Adelphi University on Friday and welcome in the Walsh Cavaliers on Sunday. Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of February 8 – 14, 2016. Athletes are nominated by Sports Information Directors of member institutions.
